Zachery Tyler Lawshe was born May 21,1999 in Sarasota, Florida - Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He hates veggies and he says that he is Spiderman.
When It All Started
I was pregnant with his little sister when we found out. We all pulled together- his father left him and us with no health insurance right after diagnoses. I did not handle it very well either and was not sure if a second child was a good idea.
Zachery had emergency surgery after finding out about his tumor. We thought it was an ear infection that was bleeding. The doctor's told use that he had 72 hours to live. He had surgery at 7 months old, PCV chemotherapy, and then radiation. All treatment ended November 2001.

It's MAY! Zachs 9th birthday is coming up and he is THRILLED! We are not having a huge party this year to make up for his tenth next here when he hits his 10th year survivor and his 10th birthday. He had a science project to do about a volcanic rock we found in the backyard and read everything he could on how a glacier might have dropped it off here from Connecticut millions of years ago. He wanted a working volcano.....we opted for FLOAM made volcano. Playdough glacier. A few pictures and some articles on how Long Island was formed. He put on a speech for parent night to view the projects and did great. His dad and I were so proud. The funny thing is, it was not required and most of the kids that came didn't tell anyone about the projects they made. He was proud of himself and happy people wanted to hear his speech. People gathered around him and we sat in the back of the gym and he was so happy. I wish everyone a wonderful, healthy safe summer!
