June 23, 1992 - September 29, 2003

Kyle Allen Pratt was born in Louisville, Kentucky on June 23, 1992, he passed away September 29, 2003. He likee: Nickelodeon, Rugrats, Spongebob Squarepants, bikes, boards, blades, pizza rolls, ice-cream, scary and funny movies, Jim Carey, and Playstation 2

He disliked: my sister (HAHA), school, homework, and needles

Kyle was a very funny boy. Even though he was sick, he could make a person laugh and smile instantly. We thought he would be a comedian when he grew up. One of his favorite stars was Jim Carey!

Family at his sister's graduation
Kyle lived with his Mom, Carol, dad, David, sister, Katie, and dog, Brandy. We have all learned to take one day at a time and be patient. God has given us the strength to accept and deal with this cancer. We seemed to spoil Kyle a little more than normal, but every child with a life threatening disease deserves to be spoiled more than the average healthy kid!

When it all Started

Kyle is very special as with any child dealing with a life threatening disease. He has had to deal with two different cancers.

He was first dx with rhabdomyosarcoma when he was 2 years old. He had no symptoms,
Kyle with his Dad
just a lump in his perineal area. He was treated with chemo and radiation for a year. He had surgery to remove the tumor in Jan. 95. He was cancer free at that point, and in the summer of 2000, was considered cured!!! Our faith in God and the doctors and the support of family and friends got us through the first cancer!!!

In April of 2001, Kyle complained of pain in his left hip area. We took him to the doctor, thinking he was just having growing pains! The Drs. ordered a bone scan, CT scan and MRI. Unfortunately, the result was another cancer called osteogeneticsarcoma. The doctors aren't 100% sure but they think this cancer is a result of the radiation used to kill the first one. So now, Kyle is getting chemo, but no radiation. He will be having surgery to remove the tumor at the end of August. The tumor is very close to the hip bone so part of the hip will be removed too. Therefore he will have a hip stem (prosthesis) put in so he can still function as normal as possible!

During the first cancer, we prayed a lot and asked God to help heal Kyle and give him strength to survive it all. We also relied on the expertise of his doctors and put our trust in them. Again, we are doing the same. Putting all our faith in God and the Kyle shaving his papa's headdoctors so that once again Kyle will beat this disease. Our friends and family have been of great support throughout both of these crisis!

You wouldn't even know he was sick except for his bald head. He does
everything that a normal 9 year old can do. He just tires a little quicker. He is very brave and knows that this treatment, which sometimes makes him really sick, will help heal him and get rid of that nasty cancer once and for all!

Our angel, our hero, has gone to heaven. Kyle entered into the kingdom of God last night at 8:00pm. He has been granted his miracle and is now free of pain and living an eternal life with all those who have gone before him! As I write, family and friends are here to give us support and love. He is very peaceful and beautiful as we watch over him, a true hero that has changed all of our lives! Thank you God for giving him to us and for taking him to be with you forever! We know that Kyle is watching over us now but we ask that you continue to pray for us, strength and courage most of all! Your support is the most wonderful gift you can give and all of you have been so giving!

Thank you
Carol, David, Katie, and Kyle
