As she slips on her uniform
Excitement starts to climb
She knows without a doubt
That she'll stick her stunt this time
Moving thru the motions
That she’s practiced everyday
She could do it with her eyes closed
Her heart will lead the way
The music finally starts
As they step onto the floor
Each with hope within their hearts
To earn the winning score
Finally, she’s in the air now,
It’s where she’s meant to be
Fans cross their fingers,
But only time will see
It’s really not her fault this time
She tumbles to the ground
But picks herself right back up
Without making a sound
She finishes the routine
With a smile on her face
She says, "We'll get it next time"
But that is not the case
This beautiful little girl
With her heart made out of gold
Was cheated of her life
She was only 12 years old
She didn’t wear her seatbelt
A choice she would regret
And news that left the rest of us
With all our faces wet
What role is Ashley meant to play
Inside God’s master plan?
There must be better reasons
Why he took her from this land
She’s in her uniform once more
The last she’ll ever wear
She’s laid into the coffin
Meticulous with care
As a tear rolled down one cheerleaders face,
She brushed it away with a sigh
She looked around and said
“Now Ashley really will fly”
“We’d throw her up as high as she went
and catch her when she returned
But this time she’s not coming back down
But think of what we learned.”
“Ashley taught us how to laugh
and to make life worth while
And greet each new morning
With an everlasting smile.”
Ashley will live forever
in our memories and in our hearts
but we all will see her soon
When each of our new lives starts
From the Texas Stars cheer squad of 2002.
Everybody needs a friend
Everyone needs their space
All people were crated equal
So why id there human race?
Just a moment in this lifetime
Just a tragedy ahead
Not knowing where each turn will lead
Within seconds we might be dead.
Live each day to the fullest
Don't stop to wonder why.
Do everything your heart desires
And let your dreams fligh high!
