When It All Started
We were on a family vaction to Oregon when Craig had what we thought was in ear infection. He was taken to the ER and treated for an ear infection. When we came home his ear still hurt. So I took him to his pediatrician. He was treated again with antibiotics for an ear infection. On the follow up visit, the swelling hadn’t gone down. The pediatrician referred us us to the ENT who thought it was granulation tissue. When he did the minor surgery, and found the tumor. For the first time, I had a panic attack. I died that day. I don’t handle it, God gives me strength on a minute by minute basis. We met with the oncologist and was admitted to Vanderbilt children’s hospital. He has received 7 intense rounds of chemo thus far. Craig’s tumor was inside his right ear, wrapped around the bones, and touching the brain. He has the hardest chemo regimen there is. Craig is doing well with the Chemo therapy. It’s hard on everyone, I struggle with depression and Lauren, my 9 yr. old little girl, has to stay with a friend. Craig is in the hospital more thank he is at home.
